This is a representation of the cross at Nevern and for me was the start of really learning about colour.  Although colour has always been important to me and I am fascinated by the way that different colours interact with each other, this picture is the first one in that I start using the colours that perhaps reflect my personality and approach to my work.  It is important to use colours that you are happy with and that reflect what you believe you are putting into a picture.  They also have to portray the feelings that you are trying to portray to the viewer.  I learnt fairly early that different people perceive colour in vastly different ways.  I coloured in one of my board games once in colours that I though looked pretty ghastly.  It sold to someone who thought that the colours were divine.  Perhaps people perceive colours differently by associations in their life.  I do hope so; it makes life much more interesting.
