I didn’t have any pre-conceived ideas before I went down this week, but decided that I would go slightly further round the Cap than previously, just to see what it was like.
In the local newspaper it had said that some of the lowest tides of the year would happen today.
I noticed a large flat area of clay on the beach with very few stones and this looked like a good place to work. It had a good feel and there were some of the orange rocks about a hundred metres away. I started creating a large rock spiral with the stones on the clay. The tide had already turned and by the time I had got three quarters round the first circle the tide was coming in fast. I changed my mind and decided that this would just be a plain circle. The tide came in not in waves but just steadily enough not to disturb the rocks. I just finished in time as the first rocks that I had laid down were now under water.
I clambered back up to a bluff and took some pictures just before the tide covered them completely.
