High tide was due late morning so I decided to work above the high tide line. I started by having a wander under wear cliffs, but decided that working in the place I was becoming to have such a great affinity to would be preferable. This place has such an energy to it, and this energy changes subtly every time I visit it.
Nearby was a curiously twisted piece of driftwood. At the last Open Studios I had used a piece of wood and trailed un-dyed, hand spun wool from it like a curtain. I decided to try this with stones to emphasize the natural but curious shape of the wood. I re-positioned the wood so it had sufficient space underneath for it to work and built a dry stone wallish thing up to the level of the wood to create a flowing curtain of stone. This wall was so thin, being only one pebble thick, that as you walked around, you could see the beach on the other side through it. Then I line d the top of the wood with more stones so that the wood was encased with stone, the wood literally dripping stones.
Again, people came through and took their photographs. Again no-one asked who had done it although I sit nearby. Funny! At least they appreciate the work.
